How to Style Activewear with a Blazer

The athleisure trend isn’t going anywhere, and it’s not just polished celebrities that can rock sculpting leggings and oh-so-comfy activewear tops on the way to Starbucks or en route to the gym. Pairing your favourite activewear with other wardrobe essentials and on-trend items is an effortless way to stay chic – not to mention, going from hitting the gym to navigating the supermarket in one outfit is every woman’s dream. Right?

Ah, but if only it was that simple.

Pairing two clothes items from opposite ends of the spectrum is not something every woman can pull off confidently. Formal and boxy blazers aren’t always the best of friends with body hugging, fluid activewear shapes. And yet, the activewear blazer trends are only becoming increasingly popular as we head into autumn/winter 2022.

So, this is our guide to styling your favourite Lazuli items with oversized blazers for instant activewear fashion.

Activewear Blazer Trend

Activewear outfits can be magical, making your comfiest leggings and supportive sports bra fashionable beyond the yoga studio. It’s about flattering shapes and on-trend items meeting comfort and convenience.

No doubt you’ve seen the oversized blazer grace your Instagram feed on more than one occasion. What we love so much about this trend is the versatility. It works perfectly with activewear clothing.

The biggest issue is that, well, it can be unflattering. After all the effort you’ve put in, the thousands of squats and superfood smoothies, you want to show off that trim waist and bountiful booty. The wrong oversized blazer can hide it all.

To hit this trend just right, build your blazer outfit around your usual Lazuli gym attire. Designed to accentuate your beautiful body shape, provide support where you need it, and stay comfortable in our soft, high-quality fabrics – the perfect base to build your outfit on.

Lessons from the Runway

If we learnt anything from Vogue, it’s that fashion continues to push forward whatever the weather. As colder chills sweep in, snuggling into an oversized blazer as you leave the gym is quite the attractive prospect!

Versace teamed blazers up with metallic mini-skirts and latex boots – think blazers with cycling contour shorts and chunky ankle boots. Meanwhile, Louis Vuitton opted for baggy cords and trainers with his blazer styles, which gives you the perfect excuse to slouch on a blazer over your cosiest joggers and comfiest shoes.

Other activewear fashion trends that continue to thrive as we get closer and closer to 2023 include the activewear dress (surprise surprise, it works wonderfully with a boxy blazer on top) and layering tops, cami’s, and sports bras together.

Three Activewear Outfits Featuring Blazers

We know what you’re thinking. How can I take the latest styles off the runway and use my Lazuli wardrobe to try them out?

After consulting some of our most fashionable followers, we’ve come up with three ideas that anyone can pull off with even just a basic athleisure wardrobe.

Let us know what you think! We’d love to see how you’re styling your Lazuli picks on Instagram – tag @lazulilabel to get seen.

Lazuli Ribbed Contour Shorts + T-Shirt + Blazer

Pick your favourite-coloured Lazuli Ribbed Contour Shorts (we’re really feeling the mellow tones of Mango Sorbet Yellow right now) and add a white t-shirt. Try a cropped t-shirt or roll and tuck a longer one. Highlighting the waist is key to retaining some elegance and figure once your blazer is slung over the top! A dark grey blazer would look epic here.

If you’re hitting the gym, you can add on your trainers or workout shoes straight away – no need to switch them out for boots.

Finish with minimal jewellery – layering chunky bangles and cuffs is very on-trend (roll up your blazer sleeves to show them off) or keep it simple with minimalist gold earrings.

Lazuli Bodysuit + Heavyweight Joggers + Oversized Blazer

The activewear blazer trend meets another upcoming trend in athleisure – the bodysuit. It was a tough choice between the V-Bar and Plunge necklines, so we’ll let you decide which to go for. The chic French grey colour is brilliant for matching with our joggers.

We recommend the classic cuffed jogger (functional and timeless) or a more on-trend straight leg jogger.

For a more formal look that takes you straight from the gym to the office, you can just throw on matching suit trousers, wide-legged chinos, or smart jeans. All of these items fit seamlessly into the activewear blazer trend and work well with the dark grey colour of our bodysuits.

Monochrome Lazuli Outfit + Blazer

Creating a monochrome ‘fit ensures you look hot at the gym, and stylish on the streets. Try a pair of Barbie Pink Seamless Ribbed Contour Leggings with matching Halter Neck Top – a colour that’s hot this season and a fan-favourite at Lazuli!

On your way to the gym, and when you stop off for brunch afterwards, add an oversized blazer. A matching pink colour is a bold fashion choice, or you could tone it down with a neutral blazer colour instead.

Don’t forget that our leggings are sculpting and perfect for showing off those glutes. Consider a shorter jacket or blazer to compliment your figure, if the oversized blazer isn’t doing it for you.

Summary – Take Your Activewear Out in Style

With just a few wardrobe essentials, you can create an outfit featuring your activewear that transforms from gym babe to street-style chic with just one addition – the oversized blazer. We’re very excited about the activewear blazer trend this season, and you should be too!
